South Jetty RV Resort, Florence Oregon…

We decided to explore northern Oregon into Washington state this summer.  So on April 30th we headed up the coast to Florence Oregon…Sand Dunes country!  We stayed at the South Jetty RV Resort which is part of Thousand Trails.  It reminded me much of Russian River…most of the sites were in the trees and much of the place was sort of old and weathered.  But the bathrooms/showers worked well from what the boy’s say.  I took my showers in LunaBella.  We didn’t have full hook up and that was a bummer, but we had the option of 30 amp and full hook up or 50 amps and I opted for the 50 amps.  We plan on coming back here on our way down and we will be going with the 30 amps and hookup.  The Laundry wasn’t too bad…$1.50 wash and .25¢ for 10 mins to dry.  It ultimately ended up being .50¢ to .60¢ to dry.  Due to it not being Memorial Day the pool wasn’t heated and no recreations were scheduled except for the hot tub. They had a nice dog area where Kaia could be off leash and play ball.

Our site was mostly in the trees…but it was a nice quite place.  One of our challenges we have encountered since having LunaBella is finding the right size site.  Seem’s Doug has the backing in down and our hitching on and off seems to be going pretty smooth.

Needless to say we are still moving through all of Spring’s showers…so most of our days there were cloudy and fogging…but we did check out the Dunes a few times when we had some sunny patches and explore it’s coastal beaches.

I was really surprised how close the Dunes came up behind the buildings in town…here’s the boys climbing up the Sand Dunes right behind the local Walmart.

Kaia had a blast fetching on the long stretch of beaches…

and Keagan loved running and ROLLING down the Dunes…

We did a lot of walking through the Dunes, as well as town where we saw some painted Sea Lions.  We also did a short hike to the Darlingtonia Wayside these are pretty amazing looking, almost alienish…they are also known as Pitcher plants.

During this trip we celebrated Keagan’s 10th birthday, at Pizza Hut, which is where he wanted dinner and our 14 yr Wedding Anniversary, Doug took me to a Sushi Restaurant…yummo!

Keagan asked for a cupcake cake…had to have blue icing!

Check out the details…look at the wasabi leaf! Such a great presentation…and it tasted terrific!
