Life on the road

We spent most of May on the East side of Oregon.  We arrived at Cascade Meadows May 7th and spent two weeks there.  First thing we noticed is that there are no trees…meaning no shade.  The first few days were cold and snowy, yep our first snow in Luna Bella.  But when it hit the mid 80’s we noted that the fridge hummed as it struggled to stay cool.  The park seemed well groomed, they ask that you water the grass around your rig.  The pool wasn’t open yet nor was the spa.  Didn’t use their restrooms so can’t say much but the laundry facility was well kept.  It was located on the road to Lake Pauline in the Newberry Caldera but the snow pack had yet still to melt so we didn’t get to hike up to the lake.  But as you can see from our Eastside of Oregon post that we did get in some fun hiking.

We did check out Bend, which is such a fun town with the Deschutes River running through it.  Lots of restaurants and shops to explore in the heart of town. When we moved over to Bend-Sunriver RV Resort we explored Sunriver which was a touristy community with stores, game center, and a water park.

Bend-Sunriver RV Resort was part of Thousand Trails (TT), one of the park systems we belonged to.  We decided not to renew it as we found it’s incredibly difficult to find good sites within their parks due to so many permanent members living there. They also seem run down, marginally kept…to us it’s not worth the membership fee.  Furthermore, with our new park membership, most of the TT parks are already on it. But over all we ended up with a wonderful site, we just happen to land a 50 amp site, as those where limited.  There wasn’t full hookup and the Honey wagon wasn’t running until Memorial Day.  But we do have a Tote and were able to make a couple trips mid stay.  Our site was partly shaded and fairly large.  The spa was nice, though run down and once the pool open on Memorial Day it seemed very large and well kept.  The laundry room was clean and had plenty of washers and dryers to accomodate the large park.  Bathrooms and showers were clean and plenty throughout the mark.

While in Bend-Sunriver they celebrated Kids Day in May and it was a great family oriented day with lots of things to do.  Keagan enjoyed the bouncy house and bumper cars the most!

We stayed a night at Hee Hee Ilahee so we could go to ORCA’s Spring Celebration!

It was a well kept park, clean and groomed, mostly in the city.  Great place for overnighting it as you pass through Salam.  Keagan adored his teacher this past year…what a blessing to see him enjoy school so much after being so bored and unchallenged in his previous school.  Looking forward to another year with ORCA.
